Stuart L Goldstein, MD, is the Clark D West Endowed Chair, Professor of Pediatrics and Director, Center for Acute Care Nephrology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. He received his medical degree from Columbia University, completed his pediatric residency at Baylor of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and completed both clinical and research fellowships in pediatric nephrology at the Children’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr Goldstein has developed and validated the pediatric modified RIFLE (pRIFLE) AKI criteria, is Founder and Principal Investigator for the Prospective Pediatric AKI Research Group, which conducted the largest multinational prospective AKI study in children, AWARE, results of which have been published in the New England Journal of Medicine. He has evaluated novel urinary AKI biomarkers in the pediatric critical care setting. He was one of two pediatric work group members for the KDIGO International AKI Guideline Work Group, and has led a multicenter national effort to reduce nephrotoxic AKI in children.
He has written over 300 journal articles, served as an Editor for two pediatric nephrology related textbooks and contributed book chapters to numerous texts including, Critical Care Nephrology, Evidence-Based Nephrology, Handbook of Dialysis Therapy, Management of Acute Kidney Problems, Pediatric Critical Care, Pediatric Nephrology, and Pediatric Nephrology in the ICU.
Apaara Chawla is a university student at The George Washington University. She is on track to attend The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences to pursue her Doctor of Medicine Degree. She is passionate about expanding access to medical treatment and resources to low and middle income countries. Apaara has conducted research with the mSLAMB and presented abstracts under the mentorship of medical professionals at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Apaara manages the website for Dialysis Without Borders and continues to work on increasing knowledge of manual dialysis.
Jolyn Morgan is an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Manager for the Center for Acute Care Nephrology (CACN) at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC). She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Ohio University, Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Cincinnati, and Doctor of Nursing Practice from Northern Kentucky University. Jolyn has over 15 years of experience caring for patients requiring kidney replacement therapy (KRT) in both the critical care and outpatient setting. She is the program lead for all renal support therapy simulation and didactic education offered at CCHMC as well as the co- director and faculty for the CRRT University, a national/ international conference for health care providers caring for infants, children and/ or adults receiving continuous KRT (CKRT).
Denise was born and raised in a suburb outside of Los Angeles, CA. She moved to New Hampshire for undergrad then made her way back to Los Angeles, where she earned her medical degree at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. She completed an Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency at the University of Colorado Hospital/Children's Hospital Colorado then moved to Cincinnati, Ohio to pursue a pediatric critical care fellowship and acute care nephrology fellowship. Her interests include acid-base disorders, electrolyte imbalances, and the use of novel non-ECMO extracorporeal support modalities to treat critically ill children with acute kidney injury. She will be moving to New York City to join the Pediatric Critical Care Faculty Group at NYU Langone Hassenfeld Children's Hospital and Bellevue Hospital.
Giovanni was born and raised in Udine, a small town in the north-east of Italy. He moved to Padua, also in northern Italy, where he graduated with a degree in medicine from the University of Padua. He is completing his residency in pediatrics at the same university, which included a one year focus in pediatric intensive care and another one in pediatric nephrology. His main interests include acute kidney injury and pediatric dialysis, which he is investigating at the Center of Acute Care Nephrology at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital, as part of the final year of residency.

Akash Deep is the Director of the Pediatric Intensive Care
Unit(PICU) at King's College Hospital, London and Professor of
pediatric critical care at King’s College London. Prof. Deep has
recently been elected as the Staff Governor at King’s College
Hospital, London.
Prof Deep is the Chair of Scientific Affairs for the European
Society of Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Society
(ESPNIC). He has been the Founding Chair for the Critical Care
Nephrology Section of European Society of ESPNIC. He has
organized and taught on several national and international
meetings. He also chairs the Liver Failure Working Group for
ESPNIC.
Prof Deep is the Chair for the Science and Education Committee
of Pediatric Intensive Care Society (PICS) of UK. He is the
advisor to the UK sepsis Trust for pediatric sepsis and is the
author of the Surviving Sepsis Campaign guidelines for septic
shock in children. Prof Deep is the Chief author of the Sepsis
Toolkit for management of sepsis in children released by the UK
Sepsis Trust at the House of Commons.
Prof Deep has organized many national and international
congresses on CRRT and hosted the 8th International Conference
on CRRT in London and the 9th International Conference on CRRT
in Orlando, USA. He was the Organizing Chairman for 2019 U.K’s
National Pediatric Intensive Care congress in collaboration with
US’s Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society (PCICS)
Prof is the Chief Editor for the official ESPNIC textbook published
by Springer on ‘’Critical Care Nephrology and Renal Replacement
therapy in Children’’. He is an invited national and international
speaker in major Pediatric and Pediatric Intensive Care
conferences.
Special interests include acute kidney injury in neonates and
children, CKRT, extracorporeal support in acute liver failure in
children, sepsis education and hemodynamics in septic shock
Professor Lui Forni trained in London at St George’s Hospital and the
London Postgraduate Medical Schools followed by specialist training in ICU and Nephrology training at St Thomas' and St George's, London. He is currently Professor of Physiology and lead for
Physiology, Acute and Critical Care Medicine at the School of
Medicine, University of Surrey as well as being Professor of Intensive
Care Medicine at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust and the
University of Surrey. His research interests include renal
replacement therapy and blood purification techniques, diagnosis,
pathophysiology and treatment of acute kidney injury, the role of
biomarkers of AKI and predictive modeling in acute medical
admissions. He has been an advisor for NCEPOD and was a founder
member of the European society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM)
AKI group being elected chair of the section in 2013 followed by a
stint as general secretary of the executive council from 2018-2021.
He was subsequently given the prestigious award of honorary
membership of the ESICM. He was also an elected member of the
Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM) board during challenging
pandemic times. He has published extensively in both basic science
and clinical based studies and is currently editing a book on AKI on
the ICU for the ESICM. He has also been awarded the International
Vicenza award for services to critical care nephrology. He is a
founding member of the International Society of Intensive Critical
Care Nephrology (ISCCN). When not at work he is to be found trying
to sail badly, play the guitar woefully and bemoan the performances
of Tottenham Hotspur.
